Their Pacific

In preparation for some work I'm doing on the Pacific, I've been checking out the web for good site on Pacific culture and discovered My Pacfic Story. It's whirlwind journey through the Pacific which features an old colleague of mine, Clement Paligaru. As in Indian-Fijian, Clem brings his uniquely personal view of the Pacific including appearing on Fijian TV and getting phonecalls from his dad's schoolfriends. And there's his proud reflection on the gardens of Fiji and a bit of local nosh. A million miles from being a travelogue, it's reflection on culture that wraps up at the 10th Festival of Pacific Arts with some traditional tattooing and whole lotta haka. It makes an impressive account of an event that essentialises Pacific culture.
